Cybercrime is an ongoing threat and there has been a spike in this criminal activity during the global pandemic as more people are shopping and spending time online. 

Added to this are the recent data breaches which have been reported in the media.  We have been made aware of numerous clients that have been affected by cybercrime in recent weeks and felt this was an opportune time to share some insights and tips on what to look out for to avoid becoming a victim.

Meet the panelists:

Adam Whittington is the Managing Director of MMC, an IT company founded in 1991 and one of the first Microsoft Gold Partners in South Africa. Actively involved in ISACA and holding CISA, CRISC, CISM, Cybersecurity Fundamentals and Cybersecurity Audit certifications, Adam has a keen interest in cloud infrastructure, security services and IT risk management. Adam started his career as a chartered accountant working in corporate finance and with this discipline has specialised across a broad spectrum of IT services and deploys them in ways that offer the most positive impact.

Nqobile Khumalo is the Founder and Executive Director of My Impact Exchange (“MIX”), an investment technology platform that focuses on investments that are centred on sustainability. Prior to joining ReimagineSA, Nqobile was part of the Black Professionals Scholarship Fund, which was geared at funding previously disadvantaged high school graduates through tertiary education. Nqobile is a former fixed-income portfolio manager that has managed funds for large institutions and high net worth individuals. Outside of finance, Nqobile spends the rest of his time pursuing interests in the ITC sector, looking for ways in which technology can be used to actively address the socio-economic issues in Africa. Nqobile is passionate about finance, technology and policy-making. Nqobile Khumalo holds a LLB Degree from the University of Witwatersrand (“WITS”) and is currently pursuing a CFA charter designation.
